The Borderlands//At the Crossroads
The Ground of Silence.
Silence is a secret older than the universe. It is the fertile ground from which all sound and movements sprout, unfurl, and rise undoubtedly toward our nearest star. Writers may loathe or adore the blank page, but they must face silence in one form or another, as an obstacle or an art. It’s called writer’s block when it happens to authors, but what about when it happens in your life?
This is the place of transition. You have entered into the borderlands, the place where what was is gone and what will be has not yet appeared. It may be tempting, but don’t rush this moment. You’ve woken up to something, answered a call, made a big shift, and now it is time to pull through the medicine of those choices and integrate it into a new way of being.
The moment (or era) at the borderlands is a powerful time, and it is often overlooked or skipped. Collectively, we have come to a crossroads, and it’s time to make some decisions. Individually, we all need need to anchor into the wisdom of our bodies and trust our own nature as we choose the next direction.
As an artist, I am drawn to the edges— I have always been curious about the place where solid land gives way to fluid water; the moment land leaps the horizon to dissolve into sky; and the magic of blue sky turning to mysterious space. As an intentional co-creator, I am enchanted by borders and estuaries, in the natural world as well as in the human body. These are the places of greatest diversity, fertility, and possibility. We need these places inside and out to make changes in our psyches and in our human trajectory.
As a writer, I create to engage and embody these liminal places. As a human being, I am committed to mythic living, a way of consciously living into the magical symbols that surround us every day.
My life is an offering back to life. My service is draw on my experience with body-based practices, my lidless curiosity, and relationship with the natural world, my passion for human liberation, and my love of myth and story. As a storyteller, I write to explore, to understand our world, and to imagine new worlds.
As a counselor and teacher, I create space for others to see their lives in context of their gifts and passion. I offer guidance as a fellow traveler on the journey into the wild unknown. I would be delighted and honored to share a moment in the crossroads with you, a walk through the borderlands, or a leap into a vast new terrain with you.
